Today, we meet Author number eight from the Silverpines series; Parker J. Cole! Yes, George introduced me to her, let’s just go ahead and get that out of the way. However, there are two things I’ve already learned that I can tell you about Parker.
- She’s FUN.
- Her fav. word has got to be Okeydokey 🙂
Hello, Parker! I’m so happy you could join us today!
Tell us, how long have you been writing?
That’s an interesting question. I don’t remember a time when I haven’t written. I’ve been one of the fortunate of women to know that ink ran in my blood. I didn’t take myself seriously until I lost my job in 2010. I had a manuscript that had been on my 3 ½ floppy disk (an artifact worthy of Indiana Jones) and I pulled it up on my computer and said, “I’m tired of looking at you and not having you published.” I’d been working on the same story for ten years. Ten years! Enough was enough and the rest is history.
What genre’s do you write in?
I write both sweet and edgy inspirational romances as well as contemporary. Under my pen name Parker Payne, I write speculative fiction such as fantasy and sci-fi.
When were you first published?
I published my first book, Dark Cherub (which is a dark, supernatural thriller) via a vanity press back in 2011. That was the book I had been working for ten years. It was finally out there. No more hoping or wishing—it was done! Then I published my first romance with a publisher in 2014. I was blessed to find an agent who helped to build my brand.
Were you published traditionally and then switched to Indie? Why?
I’m a hybrid author which means I have works both traditionally published as well as indie published.
How long does it take you to write a book?
My first book took ten years, my next book took eighteen months, the two after that were a year. Now, I’m trying to push myself to write faster so hopefully three or four months tops. We’ll see!
Where can we find your published books?
What can you tell us about your first book in the Silverpines series?
Elena and Tobias are both broken people trying to escape from obligations they’ve made on the behalf of other people. I think we make promises we intend to keep and then we find out we don’t want to.
Do you have a newsletter and how often does it go out?
My newsletter goes out once a month, twice if there’s something I need to let my followers know. I don’t want to bombard people with a lot of email clutter.
Do you have a Facebook page, group or other platforms where you hang out to connect with your readers?
You can follow all my social media by going to my website www.parkerjcole.com.
What is your favorite thing about writing books?
I talk a lot. Telling stories gets people to listen to me. Hahaha! I just love how books connect people to each other. There’s nothing like when you and someone you don’t have read the same book and have enjoyed it. All of a sudden, a connection is made through the written word and YOU were part of that. I love connecting with people.
What other books do you have releasing this year?
I’ll be releasing a contemporary novel called Java Rift, the second volume of my fantasy series called, Druid’s Moon, the second book in the Silverpines series, and then a sweet romance called The Element of Yu which is part of my Michigan Sweet romance series. In the works, I have a military sci-fi book glaring at me.
Have you done a multi-author series before?
I have. The Java Cupid series.
What’s one unique non-writing fact about you?
I love doing voice-over work. I’m not professionally trained but I’ve practiced over the years. I’ve been fascinated by the robotic operator voice ever since I was a kid.
That is a unique fact! Fitting to for what little I do know about Parker. 🙂 Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us. I know I will see YOU at the PARTY tonight! Those of you reading this are welcome to come too! Seriously, EVERYONE is invited. Come on in and bring a friend or two. There will be games, prizes and so much more! I’m so excited! See y’all tonight!
