InSilverpines Series

Introducing: Sophie Dawson

Sophie is yet another author I was introduced to by George McVey last year! Boy, he sure has introduced me to a lot of authors. I kinda like it! Anyway, I’d like you to meet Sophie too!

Sophie, tell us a little bit about you…

1. How long have you been writing?

I began writing in 2011 and released my first book, Healing Love in 2012.

2. What genre’s do you write in?

Sweet historical western romance and contemporary romance. My books have a Christian emphasis.

3. Are you traditionally published or an Indie author?
I have been publishing my work independently.
4. How long does it take you to write a book?
It depends on how long the book is and how much research I need to do to be historically accurate. I’d say about a month for books under 50,000 words.

5. Where can we find your published books?

I’m exclusive to Amazon for print, Kindle, Kindle Unlimited and audio.

6. What can you tell us about your first book in the Silverpines series?

Millie Messer, whose husband dies in the earthquakes, has to run the mercantile they own and take care of her four children. Clayton Ryder Cutler answers her ad and they decide he is to come from Stones Creek, Colorado to marry her. He comes from a family-owned general store so knows the business. Only one thing he “forgot” to tell Millie. He has five children of his own. Needless to say, she’s not happy about the omission.

7. Do you have a newsletter and how often does it go out?
My newsletter goes out on a semi-regular basis announcing sales, new releases, and sometimes works by other authors. I try to get it out once a month. Sometimes it comes out more frequently, other times less.
8. Do you have a Facebook page, group or other platforms where you hang out to connect with your readers?
My Facebook page is Sophie Dawson Novels. Groups I’m involved in are Sweet Americana SweetheartsSweet Wild West Reads, and Pioneer Hearts. I also, post in various promo groups.
9. What is your favorite thing about writing books?
Getting to know the characters as I write the stories of their lives.
10. What other books do you have releasing this year?
Pearl’s Will – Lockets & Lace #9 on Feb. 1. My writing schedule isn’t firmed up yet, but I hope to release three books in the Stones Creek – Ladies of Sanctuary House Series. Also, a second book in Lockets & Lace as well as my second book in Silverpines.
11. Have you done a multi-author series before?
Silverpines is my third Multi-author series. I’ve also co-authored a book with George McVey, Redeeming Love in my Cottonwood Series and his Redemption Series.
12. What is one unique non-writing fact about you?
I was an award-winning professional quilter before the writing bug bit.
WOW! Professional quilter – that’s pretty cool! My best friend’s family owns a sewing store and I learned a lot from her, but I don’t think I could ever call myself a professional quilter.
I asked Sophie if she had a photo of one her quilts to share and you can view it HERE. It’s called, Autumn Across the Lake. I don’t know a lot about quilting, I just dabble – but from what I can see, there is some serious detail in that quilt! Great job, Sophie!
Sophie is currently in Hawaii on vacation! So jealous! Someday, I’ll visit Hawaii. Anyway, Sophie, thank you so much for taking time from your vacation to visit with us. Hope you have a wonderful trip!
Much Love,
